Dear All,
I can remember being mocked by an aspiring politician for coming from a startup background. But there are a lot of lessons I have learnt which I applied to other areas. The complaint was that the other aspiring politicians were not comfortable using collaborative technology. He ended up applying some of my recommendations later.
My take away:
Aspiring politicians should be keen adopters of technology which can enable greater collaboration and faster working, allowing the movement to scale faster.
My revised take away:
My annoyance was that people refused to embrace something which would have had a 10X impact on their operation. As an engineer I assumed that people would adopt and use something as easily as me, I did ask for feedback at the time but they were unwilling. Maybe I should have communicated differently.
I get married this weekend in the eyes of the law. I understand how lucky I am. Maybe she will guest write one of these.

Song lyric:
This week’s title lyric is from a classic song from Simply Red. Revealing my age, I bought this on cassette and it was not legitimate, I did buy the album later on.
Startups and Mauritius
I once reached out to an incubator offering to invest and see if there were areas we could collaborate. No response. Mauritius has no startups which have raised $1 million dollars. My view there is a problem with the culture and the incentives here.
Maybe I am wrong. Tell me.
Ways to change Mauritius
I have been reading about the importance of Wetlands. Mauritius can play a role here, but our wetlands need protecting and a support system needs developing.
A while back a small group of protestors led a valiant effort to stop a questionable development on Pomponette. They understood something about the value of where we live, they have now organised into a more deliberate form, and are proposing a national park. Look at their website.. It is something I wish to help with.
About me
This is where I put annoying descriptors, but simply I like looking at problems, fixing them, and asking questions. Outside of this I love film, music and books. I can be found on twitter and instagram and linkedin.
