Dear All,
On the 16th October my birthday, someone or some parties murdered Soopramanien Kistnen, leaving a widow and a son.
A wife widowed, a son without a father. There is a dirty game going on, and as population have we become apathetic or fearful. Bruneau Laurette although someone I disagree with, is not someone I believe to be a drug dealer. He distributed food during lockdown filling a hole where government failed.
Marvin Gaye released an album told from the view of a Vietnam veteran coming home to injustice, hatred, and suffering.
The album is classic
Anyway enjoy this week’s spouting of opinion.

Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss
Nihal Arthanayake gave a humorous take on Rishi now raising the bar on men seeking permission from Hindu mothers to court their daughter (I hope in modern times, sons as well)
First off the media and political opponents can muddy the waters a bit. He did not start off a millionaire, his parents were professional (a pharmacist and a doctor), he is accomplished (went to Oxford and Stanford and was a Fulbright scholar), it does take some ability to achieve this things. He married a billionaire's daughter, hopefully for love.
It is important he does well as he represents someone who has hopefully adopted his ancestor’s culture and British culture to thrive. The country is relying on him doing well, people of colour are relying on him to break the invisible boundaries which exist.
I don’t agree with his politics, Britain needs breaking free from its colonial past through reconciliation and ownership. The structures need to be designed for purpose and growth. More importantly he has not been validated by a general election. His party have had 12 years to govern and ideological decisions have come home to roost.
Lizzzzzzz……
What is notable is that there was no contrition from the previous Prime Minister, Liz Truss, had purposefully sidestepped the system of checks and balances to introduce an ideological based budget, appeared to be influenced by the unaccountable Tufton Street group of think tanks.
She and Kwasi Kwarteng deliberately avoided the OBR (a group of non partisan experts paid to check government homework), while you can argue there were external pressures as well, the bank of England had to take emergency action. Essentially the mini budget was rolled back. The Markets responded positively to having no prime minister than having Liz Truss. She was never validated by a general election.
And Boris, the man who should never have been Prime Minister.
The question is what checks and balances does Mauritius have in place to stop government ministers being influenced by external parties.
Rishi and Nish = Nishi
I am Mauritian South London version
We both have parents who are Hindus from Africa.
Our parents sent us to private school. He was head boy, I was a founder member of a drinking society. I also won a society tie, with a book voucher where I ordered Das Capital by Karl Marx, where they conveniently forgot to call me up to pick up my prize.
He did not have working class friends. I did.
He went to Oxford I went to the University of London.
I helped form a political party, he joined one.
He was an unelected prime minister, I was elected to the Mauritian handball association.
Buildings
I found this article on city sized buildings (BBC article) and as I drove around Mauritius and saw more sugarcane land being transformed into new developments.
